The NEMAC-FernLeaf Collaborative is a public-private partnership that delivers resilience decision support solutions. We use data to empower communities and companies to make the right investments for effective resilience and adaptation.
NEMAC and FernLeaf have established a formal collaborative agreement to transfer NEMAC’s vulnerability assessment intellectual property into a scalable suite of products and services.
In addition to working together on the US Climate Resilience Toolkit to co-develop the Steps to Resilience with NOAA, this seamless collaboration has delivered quantitative vulnerability assessments to over a dozen jurisdictions in the Southeast including West Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, and Tallahassee, FL; Asheville, Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, NC.
Based in Asheville, North Carolina, FernLeaf was formed in 2014 on the vision that data can be used to empower communities to make the right investments for effective resilience and adaptation. We are vulnerability and risk assessment specialists and have purpose-built our products and services entirely for community resilience. FernLeaf has built its reputation by leading and delivering quantitative assessments for clients like Charleston on time and within budget.
To assist local governments in maintaining the currency of their resilience plans, FernLeaf has developed AccelAdapt, a software product that provides communities affordable and regularly updated vulnerability assessments for a full range of climate threats. The assessments are powered by a community’s local asset data, such as buildings and property parcels, and the best available hazard data from trusted sources. AccelAdapt delivers a “living” vulnerability assessment that can respond to new information and data.
FernLeaf Interactive builds software for understanding and visualizing the complex relationships between climate, the environment, and valued assets. FernLeaf helps users move from data to insight about the intersection of human and environmental factors by transforming big data into high-performance services paired with interactive tools.
